Ewe Smitten - The Finished Product

Ewe Smitten was well received on Valentines Day.  I love the wee hanger that I used.  I had to think up my own design on how to actually hang the picture onto the hanger - but I think it worked out well.

I thought I would share some photos of the boarding school my daughter goes to.  I am heading over the Rimutaka Hill to Masterton tomorrow to watch the school athletics sports.  Two weeks ago I went to the swimming sports.

I love going to the school...despite all the loud girls...its a lovely calm peaceful place.....

The gate with the long driveway beyond........

The view of Solway House - the main hostel - when you get to the end of the driveway..........

Solway College is one of New Zealands most historic girls boarding school.... the head matron lives in the area to the left......

Established in 1916.....Solway House is an imposing concrete building.......

Lots of glass to clean in the 4 story building where the year 10 and 11 girls live, with the year 12s at the far end.....There are 150 pupils here at the school....Years 7, 8 and 9 live in another set of buildings and the older year 13s live in a small bungalow/house.

St Columba - the beautiful old church that was moved to the school in the mid 1990s......

My daughter in front of Solway House.  Her dormitory is the open window above her.......

Its an awesome place and already my daughter is thriving there...and she has made lots of awesome friends.  I really am looking forward to going back tomorrow.

WIPocalypse 2012 February Update

Here is this months update. One down, five to go.  Yes I finished Ewe Smitten.  Well the stitching anyway.  Now I have to make it up into some style of ornament all ready for Feb 14th.  I haven't worked on any of the other WIPS as of yet, but I am sure the coming months will show some progress on this.

Anyone who is familiar with Ewe Smitten will see I have changed the colours.  I seem to do that a lot with different patterns.  I am currently stitching 'strong and beautiful' by LHN and there are big colour changes with that.  But will leave that for another post.  The birds in Ewe Smitten have been stitched to look like pied oystercatchers.  I stitched them like that because this picture reminds me of the time we spent down south around the MacKenzie Country where there were plenty of sheep and oystercatchers.

Ewe Smitten - Bent Creek

I am pretty happy with how it turned out :)
